Regina Stanback Stroud Appointed Chancellor of the Peralta Community College District in California

Regina Stanback Stroud was appointed chancellor of the Peralta Community College District, based in Oakland, California. The Peralta Community College District is comprised of Berkeley City College (54% women), College of Alameda (58% women), Laney College (54% women), and Merritt College (65% women).

Dr. Stanback Stroud has more than 35 years of experience as an educator and leader. She served most recently as president of Skyline College in San Bruno, California. She served in that role from 2010 to 2019. Upon her retirement in July 2019, she was named president emerita by the San Mateo County Community College District.

Dr. Stanback Stroud’s research has focused on student equity and diversity; education/industry collaboratives; economic empowerment and anti-poverty strategies; community workforce and economic development; and regional and state educational policy. She also served as the president of the State Academic Senate for California Community Colleges.

Dt. Stanback Stroud is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., where she majored in nursing sciences. She holds a master’s degree in human relations from Golden Gate University, and a master’s degree and a doctorate in educational leadership from Mills College in Oakland.
