Two Women Scholars Appointed to Positions as Provosts

Marion Crain was appointed interim provost at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Crain is associate provost and the Wiley B. Rutledge Professor of Law. A member of the faculty since 2008, Professor Crain also holds joint appointments in the Brown School of social work and in the department of women, gender, and sexuality studies.

Professor Crain specializes in labor and employment law and family law. She teaches seminars on class inequality and social movements. A graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, Professor Crain earned a juris doctorate from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Angela M. Salas is the new provost and vice president for academic affairs at Framingham State University in Massachusetts. She has been serving as associate vice chancellor for academic affairs and professor of English at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, Indiana.

Dr. Salas is the author of Flashback Through the Heart: the Poetry of Yusef Komunyakaa (Susquehanna University Press, 2004). She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Ursinus College n Collegeville, Pennsylvania. Dr. Salas earned a master’s degree in English from the University of Nebraska-Kearney, and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
