Eight Women Who Have Been Appointed to Administrative Posts at Colleges and Universities

Michelle C. DeVille has been named chief integrity officer and HIPPA privacy and security officer for East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. She has been serving as interim chief integrity officer since February 2018 and previously served as the director and HIPAA security officer for the Office of Institutional Integrity in the Division of Health Sciences.

DeVille holds a master of public administration degree from East Carolina University.

Teresa Costantinidis has been named senior vice president for finance and administration at the University of New Mexico. She currently serves as vice chancellor and chief financial officer at the University of California, San Francisco.

Costantinidis is a graduate of the University of California, Davis where she majored in biological sciences. She holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.

Kerry Anne Simon has been named the first woman director of university bands at Mississippi Valley State University. She has been serving as the university’s associate director of bands since 2017.

Dr. Simon is a graduate of Mississippi Valley State University where she majored in music education. She holds a master’s degree in education from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, a master’s degree in music education from Tennessee State University, and a Ph.D in music education from Florida State University.

Betsy Cannon Smith has been named chief advancement officer at Amherst College in Massachusetts. She was Amherst’s alumni secretary and executive director of alumni and parent programs.

Cannon Smith is a graduate of Amherst College where she majored in English.

Kwanna King has been named registrar at the University of Wyoming. She has served as registrar at Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma, for the past eight years.

King is a graduate of Bacone College in Muskogee, Oklahoma, where she majored in business administration. She holds a master’s degree in human relations from the University of Oklahoma.

Katherine Carter has been named an extension assistant youth livestock programming specialist in Virginia Tech’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences department of animal and poultry sciences. She was an extension 4-H agent in Botetourt County, Virginia.

Carter is a graduate of Virginia Tech where she majored in animal and poultry sciences.

Jane Pickering has been named the William and Muriel Seabury Howells Director of the Peabody Museum of Archaeology & Ethnology at Harvard University. She has served as the executive director of the Harvard Museums of Science & Culture since 2013.

Pickering holds a master’s degree in natural sciences from the University of Cambridge and a master’s degree in museum studies from the University of Leicester.

Aysegul Timur has been named assistant vice president of strategic initiatives, strategy, and program innovation at Florida Gulf Coast University. She has worked for Hodges University in Naples, Florida, for the past 20 years, most recently as dean of the Johnson School of Business and senior vice president of academic affairs.

Dr. Timur holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an MBA in business policy and organizational management both from the University of Istanbul in Turkey, and a Ph.D. in business administration and economics from the University of South Florida.
