A Quartet of Women Scholars Appointed to Endowed Faculty Posts

Marcy Lascano has been named a Keeler Family Intra University Professor at the University of Kansas. She is a professor of philosophy and is in her first year at the university. Dr. Lascano previously spent 12 years on the faculty at California State University, Long Beach. She will work on the creation of an interdisciplinary course in English and philosophy on early modern women writers, through collaboration with faculty from the department of English.

Dr. Lascano is a graduate of the University of Washington, where she earned dual bachelor’s degrees in English and philosophy. She holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Martine Vanryckeghem has been named a 2019 Pegasus Professor at the University of Central Florida for her impact on students, fellow faculty and the community through her research and dedication to education. She currently serves as a professor in the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the College of Health Professionals and Sciences. She has been a university faculty member since 1994.

Dr. Vanryckegham holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. both from Southern Illinois University.

Barbara Kazmierczak has been named the Gustavus and Louise Pfeiffer Research Foundation M.D.-Ph.D. Program Director at Yale University. In addition to her new appointment, she also serves as a professor of medicine and microbial pathogenesis. She has been a Yale faculty member since 2001.

Dr. Kazmierczak holds a Ph.D from Rockefeller University in New York and a medical degree from Cornell University.

Serena Zabin has been named the Broom Faculty Fellow in Public Scholarship at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. She is a professor of history and director of the American studies program. She has been a Carleton College faculty member since 2000.

Dr. Zabin holds a Ph.D. in history from Rutgers University in New Jersey.
