Nora E. Warshawsky Elected President of the Association of Leadership Service in Nursing

Nora E. Warshawsky, professor in the College of Nursing at the University of Central Florida, was recently elected to serve a two-year term as president of the Association of Leadership Science in Nursing, formerly known as CGEAN (Council on Graduate Education for Administration in Nursing).

In her new role, Dr. Warshawsky will lead the association through the name change that more accurately reflects the organization’s evolution to a broader focus on the science supporting nursing leadership practice and education. The association has about 175 members worldwide representing nurse leaders in both academic and practice settings.

In addition to her role with the association, Dr. Warshawsky serves as vice chair of the Commission on Pathway to Excellence with the American Nurses Credentialing Center and on the editorial board of the Journal of Nursing Administration. She is also a member of the American Organization of Nurse Executives and the American Nurses Association. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Central Florida in August 2018, she was a faculty member at the University of Kentucky College of Nursing.

“In the last decade through CGEAN, I have been able to network with national and international experts who have since become colleagues and mentors,” said Dr. Warshawsky. “I’m looking forward to giving back to the organization that has played an important role in my career, and excited to lead its evolution to the Association of Leadership Science in Nursing.”

Dr. Warshawsky holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh, a master of public administration degree in health care administration from Troy State University in Alabama, a master of nursing degree in health care systems from the University of Hawaii Manoa, and a Ph.D. in nursing and health care systems from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
