Paula Groves Price to Lead the American Educational Studies Association

Paula Groves Price has been elected vice president of the American Educational Studies Association (AESA). She will begin a four-year leadership position serving as vice president this year, president-elect next year, the year after as president, and a concluding year as past-president.

Currently, Dr. Price is a professor of cultural studies and social thought in education at Washington State University. She also serves as associate dean for diversity and international programs in the university’s College of Education. Additionally, she serves as the Elson S. Foyd Cultural Center Scholar in Residence.

Dr. Price has been an AESA member for the past 22 years. During her tenure at the helm of the association, she aims to partner with more local community members and find more ways to support scholar-activism, as well as junior faculty and graduate students, through publishing opportunities, grant writing, mentorship, and purposeful networks.

“It’s an honor to be nominated and elected by my peers to lead the major national professional organization in my field that is dedicated to justice in education and communities,” said Dr. Price. “Most of my professional development, critical learning and understandings are a result of my participation in AESA.”

Dr. Price holds a dual bachelor’s degree in social welfare and interdisciplinary field studies with a minor in African-American studies from the University of California, Berkeley and a Ph.D. in social foundations of education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
