Pamela E. Barnett will be the next dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at La Salle University in Philadelphia. She will take office on July 9. She is the former dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Trinity Washington University. Earlier, Dr. Barnett served as associate vice provost at Temple University in Philadelphia.
Dr. Barnett is a graduate of Barnard College in New York City. She earned a Ph.D. in English from Emory University in Atlanta.
Deanna Dixon was promoted to dean of admission at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. Since 2012, she has been serving as associate director of admission and coordinator of multicultural recruitment at the college. Dixon joined the admissions staff at Smith in 2006.
Dixon is a 1988 graduate of Smith College, where she majored in biological sciences and Afro-American studies. She holds an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis.
Denise Spangler was appointed dean of the College of Education at the University of Georgia. She has been interim dean since March. Dr. Spangler joined the faculty at the university in 1995 and now serves as the Bebe Aderhold Professor in Early Childhood Education.
Professor Spangler holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s degree in elementary education from Illinois State University. She earned a doctorate in mathematics education from the University of Georgia.
Kimberly Yuracko was named dean of the Pritzker School of Law at Northwestern University. She is the Judd and Marry Morris Leighton Professor of Law at the school and served as interim dean in 2011. Professor Yuracko is an expert in employment law. Her latest book is Gender Nonconformity and the Law (Yale University Press, 2016).
Professor Yuracko holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and feminist studies, a law degree, and a Ph.D. in political science, all from Stanford University.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
