A. Courtney DeVries was appointed to the John T. and June R. Chambers Chair of Oncology Research at the West Virginia University Cancer Institute. She will hold a joint appointment at the university’s Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute. Since 2000 she has been on the faculty in the department of psychology and neuroscience at Ohio State University.
Dr. DeVries is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, where she majored in biology. She holds a Ph.D. in behavioral endocrinology from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Roberta Evans, who recently stepped down as dean of the College of Education and Human Sciences at the University of Montana, was named the inaugural holder of the William C. Shreeve Chair in Educational Leadership at the university.
Dr. Evan joined the faculty at the University of Montana in 1989 and served as dean since 2006. She holds a doctorate in education from the University of Nevada, Reno.
Kathy S. Albain is the inaugural holder of the Huizenga Family Endowed Chair in Oncology Research at the Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University in Maywood, Illinois. She is the director of the breast clinical research program at the university’s Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center.
Dr. Albain earned her medical degree at the University of Michigan and completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Carol Johnson was appointed to the Arthur Anderson Professorship in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Johnson also serves as associate dean of performance measurement at the business school.
Professor Johnson holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Illinois State University. She earned a Ph.D. in accounting at Arizona State University.
Samantha Sheppard was named the Mary Armstrong Meducki ’80 Assistant Professor in the department of performing and media arts at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. She is the co-editor of From Madea to Media Mogul: Theorizing Tyler Perry (University of Mississippi Press, 2016).
Dr. Sheppard is a graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, where she majored in film and television studies and women and gender studies. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in cinema and media studies from the University of California, Los Angeles.
