College of William and Mary Official Named Deputy Secretary of Education in Virginia

The new Deputy Secretary of Education in Virginia, Frances BradfordFrances C. Bradford, associate vice president for government relations at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, was appointed by new Virginia Governor Ralph Northam to serve as deputy secretary of education for the Commonwealth. Her duties will focus on higher education in Virginia.

Dr. Bradford has served in her post at the College of William & Mary for the past 14 years. Her duties included acting as a liaison between local, state, and federal government officials. Before joining the staff at the College of William & Mary, Bradford was acting director of communications and government relations for the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia. In 2005, she served a three-month term as deputy secretary of education for Virginia in the administration of Governor Mark Warner.

Bradford is a graduate of Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. She holds a master of public administration degree from Virginia Tech.
