A Double Honor for Professor Deborah Tippins

Deborah Tippins, a professor in the department of mathematics and science education at the University of Georgia, received the inaugural Mentor Award from the Southeastern Association of Science Teacher Education (SASTE). Then, the association voted to rename the Mentor Award in her honor. Henceforth, the prize will be called the Deborah Tippins Mentor Award. Professor Tippins is the past president of SASTE.

Professor Tippins has been on the faculty at the University of Georgia since 1990. She holds a doctorate from Texas A&M University.

  1. Hello Deborah, James is teaching part time at Gordon College in Barnesville and this notice came to him via the E-clips notification system.

    Congratulations on the award and the honor of having the award named for you. The award is well deserved; certainly your guidance was instrumental in the completion of my Doctoral degree. I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity of studying under you.

    Both James and I appreciated the Christmas card and were glad to hear all is well with you.

    Again, congratulations on this well deserved award. The breadth and depth of your impact on the improvement of Science Education would be hard to measure in its totality. I hope the new year will bring only positive events for you.
