Four Women Retiring From High-Level Posts in Higher Education

Anna Wasescha is stepping down as president of Middlesex Community College in Connecticut. She will become president and CEO of the West Central Initiative, a community foundation in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. President Wasescha has led the college since 2011. Earlier, she was provost at Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Fergus Falls.

Dr. Wasescha has a bachelor’s degree in English literature, a master’s degree in higher education, and a doctoral degree in educational policy and administration, all from the University of Minnesota.

Susan Athey, an associate professor of computer information systems at Colorado State University is retiring after serving for 28 years on the university’s faculty. She had served as associate dean for undergraduate programs in the College of Business at the university.

Dr. Athey is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She earned an MBA at Colorado State University and a Ph.D. in management information systems at the University of Arizona.

Sue Eveland is retiring after spending the last 16 years as registrar at the University of Oregon. She also held the title as assistant vice president for student services and enrollment management. She joined the staff at the University of Oregon in 2001 after working for 17 years at Iowa State University.

On retirement, Eveland plans to finish writing a mystery novel and a quilt she began in 1974.

Carolyn Lynn Coleman, associate professor of business administration in the School of Management at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, has retired and has been honored with emerita status.

Professor Coleman holds bachelor’s degrees in accounting and management science and a master’s degree in management science.
