Wesleyan College in Georgia Appoints Vivia Fowler as Its Next President

Vivia FowlerThe board of trustees of Wesleyan College, a liberal arts educational institution for women in Macon, Georgia, has named Vivia L. Fowler as the 25th president of the college. She will take office on July 1.

Since 2007, Dr. Fowler has served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Wesleyan College. The college, founded in 1836,  enrolls about 650 undergraduate students and 50 graduate students.

“Wesleyan has been a leader in women’s liberal arts education, and I am confident the college will continue to thrive in the future landscape of small, private, liberal arts higher education,” Dr. Fowler said.

Dr. Fowler is a graduate of Columbia College in South Carolina, where she majored in religion and sociology. She earned a master’s degree in religion at the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in Columbia, South Carolina, and a Ph.D. in the foundation of education from the University of South Carolina. She is an ordained deacon in The United Methodist Church.
