Lynn Babington to Lead Fairfield University in Connecticut

Lynn BabingtonThe board of trustees of Fairfield University has appointed Lynn M. Babington as interim president of the educational institution that is affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. According to the latest U.S. Department of Education data, the university enrolls just under 4,000 undergraduate students and nearly 1,200 graduate students. Women are 60 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Dr. Babington will become interim president on January 1 and is expected to serve until the end of the academic year. Since 2014, she has served as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs. Earlier, she was dean of the School of Nursing. Before joining the faculty at Fairfield University, Dr. Babington was an associate professor, assistant dean, and director of the doctor of nursing practice program at Northeastern University in Boston.

Professor Babington is a graduate of the University of Michigan. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of Washington.
