Danita Nias is the new vice president for institutional advancement at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. Also, she will serve as the CEO of the Florida Atlantic University Foundation. Nias has held fundraising posts at the University of Florida and the University of Maryland.
Nias is a graduate of the University of Maryland, where she concentrated on personnel and labor relations. She holds a master’s degree in international relations from Syracuse University.
Kerry L. Meyers was appointed assistant dean of student development for the College of Engineering at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. In addition, she will serve as the director of the Women in Engineering program. Dr. Meyers was the director of the First-year Engineering Program at Youngstown State University in Ohio. There, she was faculty advisor for the Society of Women Engineers.
Dr. Meyers holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a doctorate in engineering education from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. She also holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.
Wendy Wilson was named executive director of Cordele Center of Darton State College in Georgia. The center, in Crisp County, offers day and evening classes leading to associate’s degrees. She has been serving as special assistant to the president for strategic communications and university relations at Albany State University in Georgia. Albany State University is merging with Darton State College.
A native of Detroit, Wilson holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Bluefield College in Virginia and a master’s degree in human resource management from Central Michigan University. She is pursuing a doctorate in higher education at Columbus State University in Georgia.
Chelsey Watts was appointed assistant director of partnerships and affiliations at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She was the operations manager for the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago.
Watts is a graduate of High Point University in North Carolina, where she majored in business administration. She holds a master’s degree in international and comparative education from Stockholm University in Sweden.
Angela Paik Schaeffer was named vice president for communication and marketing at Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut. She will begin her new job in January. She has been serving as chief communications officer at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
Schaeffer is a graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She holds a master’s degree from the Graduate School of Journalism at Columbia University in New York City.
Emily Jones was appointed director of Student Health Services at Amherst College in Massachusetts. She was sports medicine specialist at Dartmouth-Hitchcock healthcare in New Hampshire and a consulting physician at New England College in Hennicker, New Hampshire.
Dr. Jones is a graduate of Princeton University, where she majored in economics. She earned her medical degree at the University of Massachusetts.
Monica Moll was named director of public safety at Ohio State University. When she takes office on October 31, she will be the second woman to hold the position. Moll was director of public safety and chief of police at Bowling Green State University in Ohio.
Dr. Moll is a graduate of the University of Akron. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in political science from Kent State University.
April Gonzalez was appointed director of Pathways Experiences at the University of Southern Mississippi. She was a career consultant for the College of Engineering at the University of Tennessee.
Gonzalez is a graduate of Maryville College in Tennessee, where she majored in international studies. She holds a master’s degree from Ohio University in Athens.
Yesenia Curiel was appointed director of the Campus Advocacy, Resources, and Education Office at the University of California, Merced. She worked for nine years as a program director for the Santa Barbara Rape Crisis Center.
Curiel is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara. She holds a master’s degree from Antioch University in Santa Barbara.
Wendy Turner will be the next executive director and general manager of WKSU, the public broadcasting station operated by Kent State University in Ohio. She has been serving as vice president of digital and technical operations at Chicago Public Media.
Turner is a graduate of Saint Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, where she majored in theater.
