After 15 Years, Ruth Knox to Retire From the Presidency of Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia

Ruth KnoxRuth Knox, the 24th president of Wesleyan College, a liberal arts educational institution for women in Macon, Georgia, has announced that she will retire at the end of the 2016-17 academic year. The college enrolls about 700 students, with about 50 graduate students among the total.

Upon her retirement, President Knox will have led the college for 15 years. She is the first alumna of the college to serve as president. President Knox’s mother was a 1940 graduate of the college and her father served on the board of trustees.

President Know earned a bachelor’s degree in English at Wesleyan College in 1975. She is magna cum laude graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law. She practiced commercial real estate law for a major national firm and then opened her own practice. Knox was appointed to the college’s board of trustees in 1993 and served as chair of the board of trustees from 1994 until she was appointed president of the college in 2002.
