Judy Mitchell to Lead Joliet Junior CollegeThe board of trustees of Joliet Junior College in Illinois named Judy Mitchell as interim president of the educational institution upon the sudden resignation of President Debra Daniels. Since 2012, Dr. Mitchell has served as vice president of administrative services at the college.

Joliet Junior College, located southwest of Chicago, enrolls nearly 16,000 students. Women make up 54 percent of the student body, according to the latest U.S. Department of Education figures.

In accepting the role as interim president, Dr. Mitchell stated that “the continuity of Joliet Junior College’s services and programs is absolutely our priority. I’m honored and humbled to take on this role, and it is my goal to ensure that the college remains committed to its mission, serving students and our community to the best of our ability.”

Dr. Mitchell is a graduate of Joliet Junior College. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business and technology and an MBA from Governors State University in University Park, Illinois, and a doctorate in community college leadership from National Louis University in Chicago.
