Changes in Community College Leadership in California

DrDebbieBuddDeborah Budd was appointed chancellor of the San Jose-Evergreen Community College District in California. She was the president of Berkeley City College, an institution of the Peralta Community College District.

Chancellor Budd holds a bachelor’s degree in business economics and physical education from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She earned a master’s degree in education from Stanford University and a doctorate in educational leadership from San Francisco State University.

JohnsWith Dr. Budd taking on new duties, Krista Johns has been named interim president of Berkeley City College. A former vice president for instruction at the college, for the past four years Johns has served as vice president for policy and research at the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Johns is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside and the Kent College of Law of the Illinois Institute of Technology.
