The Massachusetts Institute of Technology recently released A Report on the Status of Women Faculty in the Schools of Science and Engineering at MIT, 2011. The report found that since 1999, the number of women faculty in the sciences and engineering is up by nearly 100 percent.
In 1999 there were 62 women faculty in science and engineering disciplines. Today there are 112. In 1999 women made up 10.4 percent of all MIT faculty in the sciences in engineering. Today, the figure is 17.3 percent.
There are 68 women faculty members in science and engineering with tenure at MIT. This is up from 35 in 1999. Today women make up 13.4 percent of tenured faculty.
