Four Women Appointed to Dean Posts at American Universities

Fuentes-MartinMaria Fuentes-Martin was appointed dean of students and associate vice president at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. She was associate vice president and dean of students at the University of Texas-Pan American in Edinburg. She has served in that role since 2013.

Dr. Fuentes-Martin holds a bachelor’s degree in history and business and a master’s degree in not-for-profit administration from the University of Notre Dame. She earned an educational doctorate at the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Fitzgerald_MargaretMargaret Fitzgerald was named interim dean of the College of Human Development and Education at North Dakota State University in Fargo. She is a professor and chair of the department of health, nutrition, and exercise sciences at the university. Professor Fitzgerald has served on the university’s faculty for more than 25 years.

Dr. Fitzgerald is a graduate of North Dakota State University. She earned a master’s degree in family resources and human development from Arizona State University and a Ph.D. in human development and family studies from Iowa State University.

Woodbury University Sue Vessella headshotSue Vessella was named interim dean of the School of Media, Culture & Design at Woodbury University in Burbank, California. Professor Vessella has served as associate dean and chair of the graphic design department at the university since 2005.

Vessella is a graduate of California State University, Northridge. She holds a master of fine arts degree in environmental graphic design from California State University, Los Angeles.

Sarah_Insley V_0Sarah E. Insley was named dean of Branford College on the campus of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. She was a postdoctoral fellow in classics at Brown University.

Dr. Insley is a summa cum laude graduate of The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., where she majored in Greek and Latin and medieval studies. She earned a Ph.D. in Byzantine Greek from Harvard University.
