The University of Wyoming has announced the promotion of 21 faculty members to the rank of full professor. Three of these appointments went to women.
Hakima Bessaih was named full professor of mathematics. She joined the faculty at the University of Wyoming in 2004. Dr. Bessaih is a graduate of the University of Algiers in Algeria. She holds a Ph.D. from the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy.
Ann Marie Hart was appointed professor of nursing in the College of Health Sciences. She is a graduate of the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. She earned a master’s degree at the University of Wyoming and a Ph.D. at the University of Colorado. She joined the faculty at the University of Wyoming in 2003.
Renee M. Laegreid was promoted to full professor of history and granted tenure. Professor Laegreid is the author of Riding Pretty: Rodeo Royalty in the West (University of Nebraska Press, 2006) and co-editor of Women on the North American Plains (Texas Tech University Press, 2011). She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska.
With more than 30 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Richtermeyer has spent the past three years as executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost at Rutgers University-Camden
Cheryl Norman was appointed president of Ridgewater College in Minnesota and Ellen Kennedy was named interim president of Cape Cod Community College in Massachusetts.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
The selected candidate should have expertise and experience in theoretical models in labor and public economics as well as in microeconometrics and programming.
