Four Women Appointed to Dean Positions

singh-kanwalKanwal Singh will be the next dean of Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, New York. Since 2012 she has been serving as associate dean of the college and previously was a professor of physics at the college for nine years. She will begin her new duties on August 1.

Dr. Singh is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Maryland at College Park. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the University of California, Berkeley.

beckham-smTammy Beckham was named dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University in Manhattan. She will take on her new role on August 2. Currently, Dr. Beckham is director of the Institute for Animal Infectious Diseases at Texas A&M University in College Station.

Dr. Beckham earned a bachelor’s degree, a doctorate in veterinary medicine, and a Ph.D. in biomedical science, all from Auburn University in Alabama.

keeganBridget M. Keegan is the new dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She has been serving in the post on an interim basis since 2013. She is a professor of English at the university and joined the faculty in 1996.

Dr. Keegan is a graduate of Harvard University and holds a Ph.D. from the University at Buffalo of the State University of New York System.

Laura Ann Rosenbury has been chosen as the next dean of the Levin College of Law at the University of Florida. When she takes office on July 1, she will be the first woman to serve as permanent dean of the College of Law in its 106-year history. Since 2002, Professor Rosenbury has served on the faculty at the Washington University School of Law in St. Louis.

Professor Rosenbury is a graduate of Harvard University, where she majored in women’s studies. She is a graduate of Harvard Law School, where she was primary editor of the Harvard Law Review.

Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
