Five Women in New Teaching Roles

main-gonzalezAnjelica L. Gonzalez was named the Donna L. Dubinsky Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Yale University. After completing postdoctoral research at the Texas Children’s Hospital, Dr. Gonzalez was an associate research scientist at Yale for two years before joining the faculty.

Dr. Gonzalez is a graduate of Utah State University and holds a Ph.D. in structural and computational biology from the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Luann-LynchLuann Lynch was appointed to the Almand R. Coleman Professorship in Business Administration at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business. Before joining the faculty at the business school, Dr. Lynch was assistant vice president at Roche Biomedical Laboratories.

Dr. Lynch is a graduate of Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. She holds an MBA from Duke University and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina.

mary_c.stinerMary C. Stiner was named a Regents Professor at the University of Arizona. She is a professor of anthropology and curator of zooarchaeology at the Arizona State Museum. She is the author of Honor Among Thieves: A Zooarchaeological Study of Neanderthal Ecology (Princeton University Press, 1994) and The Faunas of Hayonim Cave, Israel: A 200,000-Year Record of Paleolithic Diet, Demography, and Society (Peabody Museum Press, 2005).

Dr. Stiner is a graduate of the University of Delaware and holds a Ph,D. in anthropology from the University of New Mexico.

msc1Mea S. Cook was promoted to associate professor of geosciences at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. She was also granted tenure. Her research is focused on the ocean’s role in climate variability.

Dr. Cook is a graduate of Princeton University in New Jersey. She holds a Ph.D. in oceanography from the joint program of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute.

napolitanoJanet Napolitano, president of the University of California System, has been named a professor at the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley. Napolitano is the former governor of Arizona and served as the third secretary of the Department of Homeland Security. She became president of the University of California on September 30, 2013.

President Napolitano is a graduate of Santa Clara University in California. She earned her law degree at the University of Virginia.
