Neurobiologist Cori Bargmann to Be Awarded the Benjamin Franklin Medal

Cori Bargmann, the Torsten N. Wiesel Professor and the director of the Lulu and Anthony Wang Laboratory of Neural Circuits and Behavior at Rockefeller University in New York City, has been selected to receive the 2015 Benjamin Franklin Medal in Life Science from the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. She is being honored for her research on the relationship between genes, neurons, neural circuits, and behavior. Professor Bargmann will receive the award in April.

Professor Bargmann joined the faculty at Rockefeller University in 2004. Previously, she taught at the University of California, San Francisco. She is a member of the American Philosophical Society, the National Academy of Sciences, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Dr. Bargmann is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where she majored in biochemistry. She earned a Ph.D. at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
