University of Wyoming Geologist to Lead the Earth Sciences Division at the National Science Foundation

frostwebCarol Frost, a professor in the department of geology and geophysics at the University of Wyoming, has accepted a two-year appointment as director of the Earth Sciences Division of the National Science Foundation. She will continue to hold her faculty appointment at the university during her tenure at the NSF.

Roger Wakimoto, associate director of the Geoscience Directorate at the NSF said that “I wish to thank the university for allowing NSF to ‘borrow Carol.’ She will be a tremendous asset to the earth sciences community in her new capacity.”

Professor Frost joined the faculty at the University of Wyoming in 1983. In addition to teaching, she has held posts as director of the School of Energy Resources, associate vice president for research and economic development, vice president for special projects, and associate provost.

Dr. Frost is a graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, and holds a Ph.D. in earth sciences from Cambridge University in England.
