Ellen G. Spears, assistant professor in the department of American studies at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, has been selected to receive the 2014 Arthur J. Viseltear Prize for Outstanding Contributions in the History of Public Health. The award, sponsored by the Medical Care Section of the American Public Health Association, will be presented at the group’s annual meeting in New Orleans this November.
Dr. Spears is a graduate of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Emory University in Atlanta.

Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
The selected candidate should have expertise and experience in theoretical models in labor and public economics as well as in microeconometrics and programming.
