
Dr. Rich earned bachelor’s, master’s, and Ph.D. degrees from UCLA. After earning her doctorate in 1968, she was offered, and accepted, a post as an assistant professor of speech. Over the years, she served in many roles at UCLA, rising to the position of executive vice chancellor.
In 1995, Dr. Rich was named president and chief executive officer at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She spent 10 years in that post.
After leaving the museum, Dr. Rich served as a director of Mattel Inc. and on the board of trustees of the UCLA Brain Mapping Institute Foundation and Claremont McKenna College, the highly rated liberal art college in Pomona, California.
