Five Women Appointed to Positions as Deans

anita-hufftAnita Hufft was appointed dean of the College of Nursing at Texas Woman’s University. She was a professor and dean of nursing at Valdosta State University in Georgia. Earlier in her career, Dr. Hufft was dean of the Division of Nursing at Indiana University Southeast in New Albany.

Dr. Hufft is a graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She holds a master’s degree from Louisiana State University and a Ph.D. in nursing from Texas Woman’s University.

Jennifer-M-CollinsJennifer M. Collins was named the Judge James Noel Dean of the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She was vice provost and professor of law at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. She is the co-author of Privilege or Punish? Criminal Justice and the Challenge of Family Ties (Oxford University Press, 2009).

Professor Collins is a graduate of Yale University, where she majored in history. In 1991, she graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School.

marqurta_faulknerMarquetta Faulkner was appointed interim dean of the School of Medicine at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. She has been on the faculty at Meharry for 25 years and served most recently as associate dean of graduate medical education and vice chair of the department of internal medicine.

Dr. Faulkner is a graduate of Meharry Medical College.

wagnerMiriam L. Wagner is the new interim dean of the School of Education at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro. Dr. Wagner has been on the faculty at the university since 1992. In 2011, she was named chair of the department of human development and services. Prior to joining the faculty at North Carolina A&T, Dr. Wagner was an assistant professor of psychology and director of counseling at Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina.

Dr. Wagner holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she doubled majored in psychology and English literature. She holds master’s degrees in human resources and school counseling from North Carolina A&T State University and a doctorate in community counseling from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Brian Murphy ClintonKelly Otter is the new dean of the School of Continuing Studies at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She was associate dean of graduate academic and faculty affairs at Northeastern University in Boston. Earlier, she was associate dean of the College of General Studies at the University of Pittsburgh.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, Otter holds a master’s degree in radio, television, and film from Wayne State University in Detroit.

The First Woman President of Schenectady County Community College in New York

Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
