The University of Wisconsin-Madison has announced three finalists for the position of vice provost for faculty and staff. The candidates, all of whom currently serve on the University of Wisconsin faculty, will participate in public forums that will conclude on June 2. Two of the three finalists are women.
Ruth Litovsky is a professor of communication sciences and disorders. Professor Litovsky joined the faculty at the University of Wisconsin in 2001. She was promoted to associate professor in 2006 and to full professor in 2010. Dr. Litovsky holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Washington University in St. Louis. She earned a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from the University of Massachusetts.
Judith Burstyn is a professor of chemistry and pharmacology. Her research focuses on gas-sensing metalloproteins, specifically how the interaction of a gas molecule with a metal center alters protein structure and function. Professor Burstyn is a graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. She earned a Ph.D. at the University of California, Los Angeles.
With more than 30 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Richtermeyer has spent the past three years as executive vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost at Rutgers University-Camden
Cheryl Norman was appointed president of Ridgewater College in Minnesota and Ellen Kennedy was named interim president of Cape Cod Community College in Massachusetts.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
The selected candidate should have expertise and experience in theoretical models in labor and public economics as well as in microeconometrics and programming.
