The University of Delaware had promoted 17 faculty members to the rank of full professor. The appointments are effective for the 2014-15 academic year. Four of the new full professors are women.
Julie A. Hubbard was named a professor of psychology. Her research concerns peer rejection, aggression, emotion regulation, and social cognitive processes in middle childhood. She holds a Ph.D. from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
Kalmia Kniel was named professor of animal and food science. She specializes in the safety of fruits and vegetables. Dr. Kniel joined the faculty at the University of Delaware in 2004. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology, a master’s degree in molecular cell biology, and Ph.D. in food parasitology, all from Virginia Tech.
Beth Morling will be a full professor of psychology at the university. Before joining the faculty at the University of Delaware, she taught at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Union College in Schenectady, New York. Dr. Morling is the author of Research Methods in Psychology: Evaluating a World of Information (W.W. Norton, 2011) . She is a graduate of Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts.
Lauren Petersen was appointed a full professor of art history. She specializes in ancient Roman art and architecture. Professor Petersen is co-editor of Mothering and Motherhood in Ancient Greece and Rome (University of Texas Press, 2012). She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.
