Peggy Lane, executive director of the School of Business at Emporia State University Kansas City in Overland Park, Kansas, was the recipient of the 2014 Outstanding Educator Award presented by the Southwest Decision Sciences Institute. Dr. Lane has been on the faculty at Emporia State University since 2007.
Dr. Lane holds a bachelor’s degree, an MBA, and a doctorate, all from the University of Arkansas.
Velma McBride Murry, the Lois Autrey Betts Professor of Education and Human Development at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, received a presidential citation from the American Psychological Association. Professor Murry was honored for her research, teaching, mentoring, and for being an advocate for children, youth, and HIV risk prevention.
Professor Murry is a graduate of the University of Tennessee. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of Missouri. She has been on the Vanderbilt faculty since 2008 and previously taught at the University of Georgia.
Karen W. Watkins, professor and chair of the department of lifelong education, administration, and policy at the University of Georgia, was inducted into the Academy of Human Resource Development Scholar Hall of Fame. Only one scholar is inducted into the Hall of Fame each year.
Dr. Watkins has taught at the University of Georgia since 1993. She holds a doctorate in educational administration from the University of Texas.
Anne Turner-Henson, professor of nursing at the University of Alabama Birmingham, received the 2014 Leadership in Research Award from the Southern Nursing Research Society. She was honored for her research on caring for children with chronic illnesses.
Professor Turner-Henson has been on the faculty at the university since 1991. She is a graduate of the Medical College of Georgia and holds a master’s degree from Emory University in Atlanta and a doctorate in nursing from the University of Alabama Birmingham.
