Georgia Tech Appoints Two Women to Endowed Chairs

The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta has announced the appointment of six faculty members to endowed chairs. Two of the six faculty members appointed to named professorships are women.
Marilyn Brown was named a Brook H. Byers Professor in the School of Public Policy. She joined the faculty at Georgia Tech in 2006. Previously, she held several positions at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and was an adjunct professor in the department of geography at the University of Tennessee. Her research is focused on the development and deployment of sustainable energy technologies.
Professor Brown is a graduate of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. She holds a master’s degree in resource planning from the University of Massachusetts and a Ph.D. in geography from Ohio State University.
Elsa Reichmanis was appointed to a Brook H. Byers Professorship in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. Dr. Reichmanis’ research interests include the chemistry, properties, and applications of materials technologies for electronic and photonic applications.
Dr. Reichmanis holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Syracuse University. She is a fellow of the American Chemical Society and the Latvian Academy of Sciences.
