Gettysburg College Awards Tenure to Four Women Faculty Members

Gettysburg_College_sealGettysburg College in Pennsylvania has announced the awarding of tenure to seven faculty members. Four of the seven faculty members who were granted tenure are women.

FreyShelli Frey was named associate professor of chemistry. Her research interests include Huntington’s disease, the interactions of nanoparticles and cell membranes, and the use of proteins in crop protection. Dr. Frey is a graduate of Haverford College in Pennsylvania. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of Chicago.

monaniSalma Monani was promoted to associate professor of environmental studies. Her research is focused on the interconnections between culture and nature and how cultural media shape and are shaped by environmental issues. Dr. Monani is a graduate of Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts. She holds a master’s degree in creative writing from the University of Colorado at Boulder, a master’s degree in geology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a Ph.D. in science and technical communication from the University of Minnesota.

myersJoanne Myers was promoted to associate professor of English at the college. She teaches eighteenth-century British literature and the history of the novel, literature, and philosophy. Dr. Myers is a graduate of Ohio University. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of Chicago. She served as a Lilly Postodoctoral Fellow in the Humanities at Valparaiso University in Indiana.

odle-dussHeather Odle-Dusseau was promoted to associate professor of management. She teaches courses in organization theory, work, life, and family balance, and gender in organizations. Dr. Odle-Dusseau is a graduate of Bowling Green State University in Ohio where she majored in psychology and sociology. She earned a master’s degree in applied psychology and a Ph.D. in industrial-organizational psychology at Clemson University in South Carolina.
