The First Woman President of Hiram College

varlottaHiram College in Hiram, Ohio, has announced that Lori Varlotta will become the 22nd president of the liberal arts college this summer. She will be the first woman to hold the position since the college’s founding in 1850. The college enrolls about 1,325 students and women make up 56 percent of the student body.

Dr. Varlotta has been serving as senior vice president for planning, enrollment management, and student affairs at California State University, Sacramento. She joined the university in 2003. Earlier in her career Dr. Varlotta was dean of student life at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and assistant vice president for student affairs at the University of San Francisco.

Dr. Varlotta is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where she majored in philosophy. She holds a master’s degree from Syracuse University and a doctorate in educational leadership from Miami University in Ohio.
