Three Women Faculty Members Promoted at Middlebury College

Middlebury College, the high-rated liberal arts educational institution in Vermont has promoted three women faculty members.

holmesJessica Holmes was named a full professor of economics. She has been on the faculty at the college since 2001. Dr. Holmes is a summa cum laude graduate of Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. She earned a Ph.D. in economics at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. Her research focuses on health economics and philanthropy.

besser-jonesLorraine Besser-Jones was promoted to associate professor of philosophy and granted tenure. She has served on the Middlebury faculty since 2008 and previously taught at the University of Waterloo in Canada. Dr. Besser-Jones is a graduate of Tulane University in New Orleans. She holds a master’s degree from the Claremont Graduate School in California and a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her book, Eudaimonic Ethics: The Philosophy and Psychology of Living Well will be published next month by Routledge.

yuenAmy Yuen was granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of political science. She joined the Middlebury College faculty in 2007 after completing her doctorate at Emory University in Atlanta. Her current research involves th effectiveness of peacekeeping efforts to help solve international conflicts. Yuen earned a bachelor’s degree at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
