Alverno College, a higher educational institution for women on the south side of Milwaukee, has announced plans for a $30 million campus expansion and renovation project. The college enrolls about 1,900 undergraduates and 600 graduate students.
Included in the project is a new 50,000-square-foot classroom building. The new building will also house a nursing simulation center and art and dance studios. The student commons building will be renovated and expanded.
Mary J. Meehan, president of Alverno College, stated, ““Our current campus was built in 1952, and as enrollment climbs and the needs of our students change, we must evolve to meet those needs. This expansion will ensure that future generations of Alverno students have the classrooms, gathering spaces and advanced learning technologies they need to develop their abilities to the fullest.”
Groundbreaking for the new building will be held in March 2014 and the project is expected to be completed in late 2015.
