Alverno College in Milwaukee Promotes Three Women Scholars

Alverno College, a liberal arts educational instituion for women in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, has announced the promotion of three women faculty members.

Jessica Willenbrink, Malena Taylor, and Leslie Henry

Leslie Henry has been promoted to professor of music therapy. She has taught at Alverno since 2011. Professor Henry is an alumna of Alverno College and earned her master of music degree with an emphasis in music therapy from Colorado State University.

Malena Taylor has been promoted to associate professor of community psychology. She has taught at Alverno College since 2022. Dr. Taylor earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She holds two master’s degrees and earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Fielding Graduate University.

Jessica Willenbrink has been promoted to associate professor of school psychology. She has taught at Alverno since 2021. Dr. Willenbrink is a graduate of Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky, where she majored in elementary education. She earned a master’s degree in educational psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Ph.D. in educational psychology, with a specialization in school psychology, from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The new provosts are Barbara Rodriguez at the University of New Mexico, Bridget Chalk at Manhattan University in New York, and Jaci Lederman at Vincennes University in Indiana. All three women had been serving as their university's interim provost.

Ayanna Howard Appointed the Twelfth President of Spelman College in Atlanta

Dr. Howard joins Spelman from Ohio State University, where she has been serving as dean of the College of Engineering. She is a nationally recognized expert in robotics, artificial intelligence, and human-centered technology.
