Women Scholars Appointed to Named Chairs

solingen_etelEtel Solingen was appointed to the Thomas T. and Elizabeth C. Tierney Chair in Global Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of California at Irvine. She has been serving as a Chancellor’s Professor of political science at the university. She is the author of Nuclear Logics: Contrasting Paths in East Asia and the Middle East (Princeton University Press, 2007).

Professor Solingen earned a Ph.D. at the University of California at Los Angeles.

dosanNienke P. Dosa was appointed as the inaugural Upstate Foundation Professor of Child Health Policy at Upstate Medical Center and a senior fellow of the Burton Blatt Institute at Syracuse University in New York. Professor Dosa joined the faculty at Upstate Medical Center in 2002 and has been an associate professor of pediatrics since 2008.

Dr. Dosa is a graduate of Yale University and earned her medical degree at Upstate Medical University. She holds a master of public health degree from the University of Rochester.

OysermanDaphna Oyserman was named Dean’s Professor of Psychology at the University of Southern California. She currently serves as the Edwin J. Thomas Collegiate Professor of Social Work and research professor at the Institute for Social Research at the University of Michigan. She will begin teaching at USC in January.

Professor Oyserman holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work from the University of Jerusalem. She earned a second master’s degree and a Ph.D. in social psychology and social work at the University of Michigan.

Griffith-Marie Griffith was appointed to the John C. Danforth Distinguished in the Humanities at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to joining the university’s faculty in 2011, Dr. Griffith was the John A. Bartlett Professor at Harvard Divinity School. Previously, she was a professor of religion at Princeton and was director of the university’s program in the Study of Women and Gender.

Professor Griffith is a graduate of the University of Virginia. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in religion from Harvard University.

sotoAna Soto was named to a Blaise Pascal Chair at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris. She is a professor of integrative physiology and pathobiology at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. She will split her time between Boston and Paris over the next two years.

Dr. Soto received her medical training at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina.
