Eileen MacAvery Kane was appointed chair of the new graphic design program at Berkeley College. Students will be able to pursue a bachelor of fine arts degree at the Woodland Park, New Jersey campus of Berkeley College or through the college’s online program. MacAvery Kane has previously taught at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Rockland Community College, and the Peekskill Center for Digital Arts. She is the author of the 2010 book Ethics: A Graphic Designer’s Field Guide.
MacAvery Kane is a graduate of Empire State College in Saratoga Springs, New York. She holds a master of fine arts degree from Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia.
Lauren Lake was named chair of the department of art and art history at the University of Alabama Birmingham. She was assistant director of the graduate program at the School of Art and Art History of the University of Florida. She has been an associate professor at the University of Florida since 2002.
Professor Lake is a graduate of the University of Florida and holds a master of fine arts degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
Deborah Witt Sherman was appointed professor in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Florida International University in Miami. She will also serve as associate dean of academic affairs. Professor Sherman was assistant dean for research at the University of Maryland.
Professor Sherman holds a Ph.D. in theory and research development in nursing science from New York University.
Poonam Sharma was named chair of the department of pathology at the Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. She joined the faculty at the medical school in 2004 and has been serving as interim department chair.
Dr. Sharma is a graduate of the Lady Hardinge Medical College of the University of Delhi in India. She completed her residency in pathology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
