A Dozen Women With New Administrative Roles in Higher Education

carol GiuriceoCarol Giuriceo was appointed director of the RI STEM Center at Rhode Island College in Providence. She was the director of the Collaboration for Exploration of Mathematics and Sciences at the University of Rhode Island. Previously, she served as director of invention at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Dr. Giuriceo is a graduate of New York University and holds a doctorate in education from the University of Rhode Island.

ClaytonYvetteYvette S. Clayton is the new director of career development services at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville. She was the director of experimental programs at Chicago State University.

Clayton is a graduate of Illinois State University, where she majored in marketing. She holds an MBA from Clark Atlanta University.

dympna_callaghan_classroomDynpna Callaghan was named interim director of the Humanities Center at Syracuse University. She is the William L. Safire Professor of Modern Letters in the university’s College of Arts and Sciences.

Professor Callaghan is the editor of The Impact of Feminism in English Renaissance Studies (Palgrave Macmillan, 2007) and the author of several books including Who Was William Shakespeare: An Introduction to the Life and Works (Wiley-Blackwell, 2013).

UshaHaleyUsha Haley is the inaugural director of Robbins Center for Global Business and Strategy at West Virginia University. She was an international business professor at Massey University in Auckland, New Zealand.

A native of India, Dr. Haley earned a master’s degree in political science at the age of 18 from the University of Illinois. She holds a Ph.D. in international business and management from New York University.

BRENDA-PHILLIPScompassBrenda Phillips was appointed associate dean at the Chillicothe campus of Ohio University. Since 2004, she has been a professor in the fire and emergency program and graduate student coordinator at Oklahoma State University. Earlier in her career she taught at Jacksonville State University in Alabama, Texas Woman’s University, Southern Methodist University in Dallas, and Maryville College in Tennessee.

Dr. Phillips is a graduate of Bluffton University in Ohio and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in sociology from Ohio State University.

lisa_g._williams_-_iwinLisa Gilbert Williams was promoted to executive director of the Institute for Workplace Innovation at the University of Kentucky. She has been on the staff at the institute since 2009 and has been acting co-executive director since 2012.

Williams is a graduate of the University of Kentucky. She holds a master’s degree in social science administration from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.

gigipetersGigi Peters was named executive director of the MidSouth Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The center is the community service unit of the School of Social Work at the university. Since 2008, Peters has been executive director of Women and Children First in Little Rock and has been an instructor in social work at the university.

Peters holds a bachelor’s degree and a master of social work degree at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.

patriciapritchettsPatricia Pritchett was named senior vice president of ambulatory services for the University of Alabama Birmingham Health System and executive vice president of the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation.

Pritchett had a career in nursing before earning a degree at the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham.

MarleneSchwartzmainMarlene B. Schwartz was promoted to director of the Rudd Center for Food Policy and Obesity at Yale University. She has been serving as associate director. She is the former co-director of the Yale Center for Eating and Weight Disorders.

Dr. Schwartz is a graduate of Haverford College in Pennsylvania. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Yale University.

Elizabeth Meadows, Curb Center Photos by : Susan UrmyElizabeth Meadows was named director of the Curb Scholars Program and the Creative Campus initiative at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. For the past two years, she has been a postdoctoral fellow and visiting assistant professor at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts.

Dr. Meadows holds a Ph.D. in English from Vanderbilt University.

lynnbruscoLynn M. Brusco was appointed executive director of the Disruptive Health Technology Institute at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. She was vice president and chief relationship officer at the Pittsburgh Life Sciences Greenhouse.

A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, Brusco is the former director of public relations at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.

LindaNobleLinda Noble was named interim vice president for academic affairs at Fort Valley State University in Georgia. She has been serving as vice chancellor for academic affairs for the University System of Georgia.

After earning a doctorate the University of Georgia, Dr. Noble had a 22-year career on the faculty at Kennesaw State University, where she also served as dean of the College of Humanities and Social Science.
