George Washington University to Participate in New Lecture Series on Women’s History

George Washington University has entered into a partnership with the National Women’s History Museum to create a new lecture series to focus on women in American life. A series of four lectures will be held, two in the fall semester and two in the spring semester.

Wages-headshotIn remarks at the ceremony announcing the agreement, Joan Wages, president and CEO of the National Women’s History Museum, stated, “There are 17,000 museums in the United States and 56,000 in the world, and not one of them covers the scope of women’s history.”

“Only 8 percent of statues in our nation’s parks are of women, and only 15 of the 217 statues in our nation’s capital are of women leaders,” Wages continued. “We are really looking forward to working, though this partnership, to get women’s history out into the public.”
