University of California at Santa Barbara Receives Archives of Artist Favianna Rodriguez

rodriguez=FavFavianna Rodriguez, the Oakland-based artist known for her social activism, has donated an archive of her work to the library at the University of California at Santa Barbara. Rodriguez is internationally renowned for work that reflects the impact ordinary people can have on the conditions around them. She tackles issues such as immigration, globalization, economic inequities, patriarchy, racism, climate change, and war.

The donated collection includes 31 art prints. Additional prints, sketches, correspondence, photographs, videos, and other documents will be added to the archive in the future.

“I am honored to make my art accessible in the public archive,” said Rodriguez. “Art is central to social change, and it is vital that we document the ways in which this relationship unfolds.”
