Three Women Awarded Tenure at Wesleyan University

200px-Wesleyan_University_Shield.svgWesleyan University, the highly rated liberal arts college in Middletown, Connecticut, has awarded tenure to five faculty members. Three of the scholars granted tenure are women. All three women were promoted to associate professor, effective July 1.

bjuhaszBarbara Juhasz was promoted to associate professor of psychology and an associate professor of neuroscience and behavior. She joined the Wesleyan faculty in 2006. Her research involves the cognitive processes of word recognition.

Dr. Juhasz is a graduate of Binghamton University of the State University of New York system. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of Massachusetts.

Weiss-margotMargot Weiss joined the faculty at Wesleyan in 2008. She will be an associate professor of American studies and anthropology. Dr. Weiss previously taught at the College of William and Mary, Sweet Briar College, and Duke University. She is the author of Techniques of Pleasure: BDSM and the Circuits of Sexuality (Duke University Press, 2011).

Dr. Weiss is a graduate of the University of Chicago and holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Duke University.

wu-shengqShengqing Wu was named associate professor of Asian languages and literatures. She has taught at Wesleyan University since 2006. Her research is focused on the cultural and literary history of late 19th-century and early 20th-century China. She is the author of the forthcoming book Modern Archaics: Continuity and Innovation in the Chinese Lyric Tradition, 1900-1937 (Harvard University Asia Center Press, 2013).

Dr. Wu holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Fudan University in Shanghai, China. She earned a Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles.
