Bowdoin College Promotes Two Women to Full Professor

bowdoin_college_sealBowdoin College, the highly rated liberal arts educational institution in Brunswick, Maine, has announced that four faculty members have been promoted to the rank of full professor. Two of the four promotions went to women.

Pamela-FletcherPamela M. Fletcher was promoted to full professor of art history. She has been teaching at Bowdoin since 2001. She is the co-editor of The Rise of the Modern Art Market in London, 1850-1939 (Manchester University Press, 2011).

Professor Fletcher is a graduate of Bowdoin College. She holds a certificate in feminist theory and a Ph.D. from Columbia University in New York City.

Susan-KaplanSusan Kaplan was named full professor of anthropology. A member of the Bowdoin faculty since 1985, she also serves as the director of the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum and Arctic Studies Center. From 2000 to 2012 she was the editor of the journal Arctic Anthropology.

Professor Kaplan is a graduate of Lake Forest College in Illinois. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.
