Three Women Named to Dean Positions

Deborah Boehm-Davis was promoted to dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. Her appointment is effective July 1. Currently, she is associate dean and professor of psychology at the university.
Professor Boehm-Davis is a graduate of Rutgers University. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from the University of California at Berkeley. She is the co-author of the book An Introduction to Humans in Engineered Systems (Wiley, 2012).
Paula Lutz was appointed dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Wyoming. She will begin her new duties in July. Currently, Dr. Lutz is dean of the College of Letters and Science and professor of cell biology and neuroscience at Montana State University. From 2002 to 2007, she was dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at what is now the Missouri University of Science and Technology, formerly the University of Missouri-Rolla.
Dr. Lutz is a graduate of the University of Missouri-Rolla and earned a Ph.D. in microbiology and immunology at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
Elaine Smyth was named interim dean of Louisiana State University Libraries. She has been working at the LSU Libraries since 1988, most recently as assistant dean. Prior to working at LSU, she held several positions at the Olin Library on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Smyth is a graduate of Colorado College, where she majored in French literature. She holds a master of library science degree from the University of Washington.
