Tracee Watts Appointed President of Galveston College

Tracee Watts has been named the ninth president of Galveston College in Texas. According to the U.S. Department of Education, the community college enrolls about 2,400 students, 65 percent of whom are women.

Dr. Watts comes to her presidency with over two decades of higher education experience. Most recently, she was senior vice president of student success and advancement at Brazosport College in Lake Jackson, Texas. In this role, she provided executive leadership for student success, enrollment management, institutional advancement, marketing and communication, dual enrollment, and external and legislative relations. Dr. Watts also served as chief advancement officer and executive director of the Brazosport College Foundation.

“The selection of Dr. Watts followed a thorough national search and thoughtful input from our campus and community stakeholders,” said W. Myles Sunseri, former president of Galveston College. “She has a proven track record of innovation and growth in community college education. Dr. Watts’ collaborative leadership style, vision and student-centered approach will help Galveston College continue to grow and serve our community for years to come. We look forward to working alongside her as the college continues expanding its impact across the region.”

Dr. Watts holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. She earned her doctor of education degree from Kansas State University.
