Laura Logan, professor of sociology at Hastings College in Nebraska, passed away on June 6. She was 62 years old.
Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, Dr. Logan received her bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. She went on to earn a master’s degree in sociology, a graduate certificate in women’s studies, and a Ph.D. in sociology, all from Kansas State University.
After completing her doctorate, Dr. Logan joined the faculty at Hastings College in August 2013. Her research, teaching, and service interests included social justice and inequalities, criminology, gender and intersectionality, social movements, political sociology, and violence against marginalized people. She served as an advisor for Alpha Kappa Delta, a sociology honor society, and as a board member of the Nebraska Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence. Dr. Logan was also a member of Sociologists for Women in Society.
