Diana DiTomasso Honored for Excellence in Women’s Health and Obstetrics Education

Diane DiTomasso, clinical associate professor of nursing at the University of Rhode Island, has received the 2025 Education Award of Excellence from the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses in recognition of her scholarly and clinical contributions to women’s health education.

With over 35 years of experience as an obstetrical nurse, lactation consultant, and educator, Dr. DiTomasso is an expert on breastfeeding, infant weight changes, and human milk expression. Her scholarship has been widely published and recognized by several organizations including the International Lactation Consultant Association and the Eastern Nurses Research Association. Outside of her work in academia, Dr. DiTomasso owns and operates Lactation Services Rhode Island, an in-home lactation care service for women throughout the state.

Dr. DiTomasso earned her bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Rhode Island.
