Nikki Edge has been named the Cathy Cole Seilhan and Denton Seilhan Endowed Chair for Child and Family Resilience in the College of Medicine. A UAMS faculty member since 2000, she currently serves as a full professor in the department of family and preventative medicine, with a secondary appointment in the department of pediatrics. Her research focuses on factors that place children at risk for poor social and emotional outcomes, as well as interventions to support these high-risk children and their families.
Dr. Edge received her bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in political science and her master’s degree in secondary education with an emphasis in social studies from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She holds a Ph.D. in educational psychology and research from the University of Memphis in Tennessee.
Susan Emmett has been named the Thomas McGill Chair in Otolaryngology in the College of Medicine. She is an associate professor of otolaryngology and epidemiology and founding director of the UAMS Center for Hearing Health Access. Prior to her current role, she was an associate professor at the Duke University School of Medicine. As a public health expert, she aims to develop evidence-based solutions to address preventable hearing loss and extend access to care for rural and underserved communities.
Dr. Emmett holds a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from Princeton University in New Jersey, a master of public health degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, and medical degree from Duke University in North Carolina.
Dr. Scarlatta has led the University of Michigan-Dearbon on an interim basis for the past year. Pending approval from the board of regents, she is slated to become the university's permanent leader on May 22.
Nicole Reaves has been serving as executive vice president and chief programs officer at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. On July 15, she is slated to become the first woman president of Schenectady County Community College within the State University of New York System.
