University of Alabama at Birmingham Scholar Receives National Recognition for Artistic Excellence

Stacey M. Holloway, associate professor of sculpture at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, has received the 2024 SECAC Award of Artistic Excellence. SECAC, a national nonprofit formerly known as the Southeastern College Art Conference, presents the award annually to an artist who has sustained exemplary creative activity within the prior two years.

A faculty member in UAB’s department of art and art history for over a decade, Professor Holloway currently serves as coordinator for the bachelor of fine arts degree program. As an installation-based artist, sculptor, and visual storyteller, her work focuses on the transformation and growth of individuals as they mature. Her art has been featured in numerous exhibits throughout the United States.

Professor Holloway is a graduate of the Herron School of Art and Design at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, where she earned her bachelor of fine arts degree. She holds a master of fine arts degree from the University of Minnesota.
