Stacy Volnick Selected to Lead Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton

The board of trustees of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton has selected Stacy Volnick as interim president of the university. She will begin her new role on January 1, 2023, after President John Kelly steps down at the end of the calendar year.

Florida Atlantic University enrolls nearly 25,000 undergraduate students and more than 5,300 graduate students, according to the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Education. Women make up 58 percent of the undergraduate student body.

Volnick became a member of the university’s administrative staff in 1991, advancing steadily through the ranks. In 2013, she became vice president for administrative affairs and chief administrative officer, and more recently, she was promoted to chief operating officer.

Volnick holds a bachelor’s degree in communication from the Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters and a master’s degree in education leadership from the College of Education at Florida Atlantic University. She currently is pursuing a doctorate in higher education leadership. Her dissertation will address the challenges facing women college presidents.
